How To Develop a Growth Mindset

To start developing your own growth mindset, begin by recognizing the power of self-talk.

Be aware of how your language may impede your own progress.

When it comes to feeling better and improving your mindset, affirmations can be a great tool.

Affirmations are positive statements that help you challenge and overcome self-sabotaging, negative thoughts.

They help shape the way we think about ourselves as well as our lives.

To start using affirmations effectively, first choose one or two that resonate with your current goals. It could be something general like “I am capable of achieving success” or more specifically “I can master the skill of…..”

Once you’ve chosen your affirmation(s), repeat them out loud throughout the day.

It is important to add in some emotion when saying your affirmations so they carry more power!

Writing them down can help cement them into your daily routine.

Another way to develop a growth mindset is through daily meditation.

Meditation helps people clear their minds and allows them to focus on the present, which is a key component of the growth mindset philosophy.

Studies have shown that meditation can increase your capacity for “mindfulness”, which is the ability to be aware of the present moment without judgment.

In the present moment, it is impossible to judge yourself as good or bad, right or wrong.

This is because you simply cannot know what will happen in the future.

The only thing that can be known in the present moment is experience.

What is important is to remain aware of your experience and use it to plan for future growth.


From a cognitive perspective, the growth mindset is one that sees abilities as malleable, rather than fixed.

As solopreneurs and business owners, this mentality can be incredibly useful when it comes to achieving success.

Rather than getting stuck in the fixed mindset belief that you’re not good enough or talented enough for a certain task or project, the growth mindset believes you can develop these skills and capabilities over time. 

A growth mindset encourages resilience when faced with setbacks and failure.

As an entrepreneur you will experience these at some point on your journey.

Your growth mindset will push you to continue learning and challenging yourself.

It may be easier said than done but adopting this approach can have great benefits.

Being mindful of your experience allows you to recognize your strengths. It also identifies areas you need to work on to reach your goals.
